Promoting the OARS Framework for Action
OARS has developed a framework for co-designing OA information for action to identify categories that guide various user groups in navigating the best opportunities to harness linkages between climate-ocean change science and policy priorities. Members of the OARS Framework for Action Working Group are encouraged to promote, utilize, apply and improve the framework in earnest toward fulfilling our charge to address Sustainable Development Goal indicator 14.3.1.
The OARS Framework for Action is a way of catalyzing the energy in the right direction. The function of the Framework is to generate a paradigm shift in how to think of the role of science. In doing so, the Framework breaks down barriers by connecting non-science practitioners with OARS researchers.
The Framework provides a building-block structure for connecting our biological understanding of acidification to issues of sustainability and livelihoods.
The Framework’s six decision-making categories are intended identify supply & demand pathways associated with OA information within each category.

OARS can help user-groups articulate which science best supports their projects by showing the type of activities and research that OARS scientists can provide, and by helping to contextualize or make more obvious the ways in which OA research applies to different decision-making outcomes. OARS is developing a suite of case studies to illustrate the Framework in action.
